The Decision to Rise
When that support was never offered, I reached a turning point. I made a decision: if no one was going to help me pursue my education, I would do it myself.
The journey that followed was long, hard, and often isolating. As the first in my family to attend college, there was no roadmap—only persistence and uncertainty. Accepting assistance often felt like “opting out” of opportunity, yet walking away from my dreams was never an option.
Becoming the Fire
Along the way, God placed a few people in my life who offered encouragement at critical moments. That mattered. It kept me moving. Eventually, I stopped looking for a spark elsewhere and I became the fire I needed to continue.
I walked through the fire. I rose out of the ashes. Now, through R.I.S.E., I am committed to helping others do the same—with dignity, holistic support, and a real chance to finish what they start.
